Community Living in Steveston and Steveston Village

Community · July 21, 2026 · 1 min read

When people ask me what it feels like to live in Steveston, I usually tell them it feels like a place where you still know your neighbours.

Steveston has a rhythm of its own. It grew up around the water, and you can still feel that connection today in the village, along the docks, and in the way people gather.

Steveston Village is the heart of it. It is the kind of place where you can walk out for a coffee, run into someone you know, and end up chatting for longer than you planned. The shops and small businesses give it a character that is hard to find elsewhere.

A lot of daily life here happens outdoors. Walking, cycling, spending time along the waterfront. It is a lifestyle that invites you to slow down and be part of what is around you.

What I think really defines community living in Steveston is the sense of belonging. Families put down roots here. Neighbours look out for one another. There is a pride in the place that you pick up on quickly.

If you are thinking about a move to Steveston or Steveston Village, my advice is to spend some time in the village and along the water. Get a feel for the pace and the people. That is the best way to understand what living here is really about.
