Vancouver Neighbourhood

Champlain Heights

Saturday morning you walk the tree-lined curves down to Champlain Heights Park, past the sports fields and four playgrounds, dogs on leash beside you.

Champlain Heights is the southeast corner of Vancouver: about 8,300 people, median age mid-forties, a little over half of them owners. Townhouse complexes make up a large share of the housing, on winding, tree-lined streets and cul-de-sacs. Most of what comes up for sale has three bedrooms.

The 26 runs through Champlain Heights along Kerr and Tyne and connects you to the SkyTrain line, so a trip downtown is a bus and then a train.

Champlain Square is the shopping centre here. There's a Vietnamese restaurant at the Square for dinner, and Sushi Mira over in the River District if you want to go a little further.

Everett Crowley Park is the fifth largest park in the city and it's right here. Champlain Heights Park has the sports fields and four playgrounds, and dogs are on-leash in it. The Champlain Heights Community Centre at 3350 Maquinna Drive has a fitness centre with sauna, a dance studio, and squash and racquetball courts.

For schools, Champlain Heights Annex is the public elementary at 7835 Champlain Cres and Captain James Cook Elementary is at 3340 54th Ave E. Check the Vancouver School Board catchment map for the exact address you're looking at.
